Lomographie

What is Lomography?

image lomo Lomography emphasizes casual, snapshot photography. Characteristics such as over-saturated colors, off-kilter exposure, blurring, "happy accidents," and alternative film processing are often considered part of the Lomographic Technique. Users are encouraged to take a lighthearted approach to their photography, and use these techniques to document everyday life, as the Lomo LC-A's small size, simple controls, and ability to shoot in low light encourages candid photography, photo reportage, and photo vérité.

A Lomo camera is, to be frank, a crappy camera. It is produced out of Russia, but loyal followers seem to revel in its low quality. The idea behind the Lomo culture is that all of the camera’s weaknesses are actually cool. Vignetting is seen to add uniqueness to photographs, while inaccurate settings open up your creativity. While this may sound ridiculous, there is some truth to it—Lomo cameras do produce some fascinating pictures. If you want to check out some examples, there are many websites produced by devoted lomographers, and the homepage at www.lomography.com

The lomography motto is “don’t think, just shoot.” If you’re thinking of entering the world of lomography, here are the ten rules you should know:

The ten golden rules

  1. Take your LOMO everywhere you go.
  2. Use it anytime — day or night.
  3. Lomography is not an interference in your life, but a part of it.
  4. Shoot from the hip.
  5. Approach the objects of your lomographic desire as close as possible.
  6. Don't think.
  7. Be fast.
  8. You don't have to know beforehand what you've captured on film.
  9. You don't have to know afterwards, either.
  10. Don't worry about the rules.

Fisheye and the Fisheye 2

The world’s only 35mm camera with a built-in fisheye lens! It sees a sweeping 170-degree view – compacting everything around you into a compact circular image. Get right up to your subject’s nose for slamming distortion effects. Huge depth of field renders both the foreground and background in complete focus. Its premium glass lens offers bright colors and knockout contrast. Rocks a built-in electronic flash for use day or night. Uses normal 35mm film that can be processed anywhere. (Fisheye 69$ and Fisheye2 75$)

ActionSampler Flash

Enough of early bedtimes, your Actionsampling night fever is here. Using the same beloved 4-shot format of our classic Actionsampler, the Actionsampler Flash tosses in an additional 4-step sequential flash. With one push of the shutter button, all four lenses fire in perfect synchronicity with the rapid-fire flash. Flash at night to reveal critical action at parties, concerts, and nocturnal events. Flash in the day to fill in those highlights. Uses standard 35mm film and standard processing.

Holga

The iconic Holga has a gaggle of tasty new features. A color wheel tints your flash with yellow, red, blue, or clear gels. A "B" setting holds the shutter open for dreamy, natural background / flashed foreground images, or pure nighttime long exposures. A tripod nut keeps your Holga steady, and a new 6x6 plastic mask yields tighter, sharper images.

Color Splash

Hotstepping in glossy white, the Colorsplash camera will re-cast your world in a gorgeous riot of color. Its patented colorwheel system puts several tinted flash filters at your finger tips for instant selection; with an additional 9 filters included to exchange. Long exposure capability creates dreamy streaked backgrounds behind crisp, color-flashed foregrounds.

Supersampler

The Queen of all multi-lensed cameras. Four highly light-sensitive and precision Japanese panoramic lenses capture four sequential panoramic shots on a single photo. The patented rip-cord advance ensures that you are ever-ready for action. Normal film, normal processing, no batteries.

Oktomat

SHOOT!! And 8 “clack's” later your subject is cleanly sliced into 8 little frames, boiled, and served. It's no Hollywood feature, but believe us, 8 frames can tell quite a tale. Envision yourself as a movie director on the world's tightest budget – armed with 8 scenes and 2.5 seconds to relate your micro-masterpiece. Among the many possibilities, you might grab an Oktographic snippet from: your best friend's romp in the park, a parade of beagles, the very moment that she said “yes,” big Charlie's unfortunate bicycle lesson, passionate hedgehogs, or a boozy sea-cruise. Whatever the occasion: choose your scenes, motivate your cast, and coordinate your cinematography into a print-bound and oscar-worthy Oktomatic vignette.

Caméra POP9

One single shot produces 9 identical images on one print - instantaneously transforming the environment around you into explosions of pattern-repeating pop-art. Shapes, angles, and bulges engage each other between the 9 repeating frames, producing a simply amazing photographic wallpaper of images. The Pop 9's sexy metallic gold skin perfectly complements the most fashionable of looks, and its built-in flash allows for gorgeous results in low-light and nocturnal activities.

ActionSampler

This little beauty is the one and only incredible four-lens-photo-photo-photo-photo ActionSampler. Available in three sexy surfaces.
